Individual sessions
As a trauma specialist, I offer somatic talk and touch therapy that builds on bodily awareness to complement the cognitive mind in the healing journey.
How does somatic therapy work?
The word somatic means something relating to or affecting the body. I bring the principles of Somatic Experiencing® (SE) into my work. There are many different forms of somatic therapy, and my training and personal experience of Somatic Experiencing® has the most resonance for me.
In our work, we focus on the healing and recovery from the impacts of trauma. Trauma isn’t necessarily the event/s that have happened to you, as each person’s nervous system can respond differently to the same event/s. Rather, trauma impacts our sense of safety and capacity to thrive. Working together, we can explore how trauma impacts you in the here and now. There are several therapies on offer to heal trauma, and one of the significant differences with Somatic Experiencing® is that you don’t have to re-tell your story or stories. You’ve already survived the difficult thing/s that happened to you. There is no need for you to relive it in session.
Our work focuses on your body’s innate resources and constant movement towards healing. It is gentle, slow work, each moment growing the body’s capacity to stay with discomfort and rediscovering the essential life force that resides within us all.
In each session, we will explore together how your nervous system responds to what is happening in the now (somatic). There is plenty of time to make meaning of that (cognitive). I also offer healing SE touch in sessions which is consensual, purposeful and to support you on your recovery from trauma.
Each session is 60 minutes in duration and the fee is $170.

SE Touch
The focus of SE touch is different to other modalities. It focuses on the body’s coherence and on building containment and capacity, rather than manipulation of fascia and physical repair e.g. after an injury.
Touch can also support the body to access activation that can be frozen or locked in the joints or diaphragmatic structures.
In a session touch happens while you’re fully clothed, lying on a table or sitting in a chair. The touch is still, using hands to listen to what is happening in the body.
Touch is effective as it bypasses the cognitive brain and can provide support and reconnection into the life energy in a way that is beyond language.
SE Touch is a beautiful way to process an incomplete response, experience activation and deepen energy wells.
Clinical Supervision
Supportive clinic supervision is key to deepening reflection on practice and client work. It makes us all better practitioners
